The Clarksville Police Department is currently seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect linked to an attempted vehicle burglary. On the afternoon of Dec. 16, 2025, a mother-daughter duo found themselves embroiled in a confrontation during a seemingly routine Facebook Marketplace transaction, WSMV reports. The meet-up, set for a cellphone sale at the local Walmart located at 1680 Fort Campbell Boulevard, took an unexpected turn when the buyer handed over an envelope containing a mere $4.
Upon questioning the amount, the alleged suspect made to forcefully snatch the phone from their hands. "When the suspect approached their vehicle, he handed the victim an envelope containing only $4. When the victim questioned the amount, the suspect leaned into the car and attempted to take the phone," according to ClarksvilleNow. A struggle ensued, but the perpetrator eventually fled the scene without the phone, leaving the victims shaken.
The encounter was caught on Walmart's surveillance system, capturing the suspect leaning into the vehicle and the subsequent futile tussle. Clarksville Police have released images of the suspect, urging anyone who may recognize him or possess additional information to come forward.
Detective Herring of the CPD, the lead on the case, is the direct line for tips at (931) 648-0656, ext. 5325. In an effort to rally community support, the department has also issued a call for anonymous tips via the Clarksville Montgomery County Crime Stoppers Tipsline at 931-645-8477, or online submission at P3tips.com/591.
