The Town of Windsor Police Department, in a statement released on social media, has identified 19-year-old Ricardo Bracamonte Monjaras of Clearlake as the suspect in a shooting incident that left two people injured at Estrella’s Market in Windsor. The event, which unfolded yesterday at around 5:30 PM, led investigators to issue a $1 million arrest warrant for attempted murder. Monjaras is reportedly armed and dangerous and was last seen fleeing the crime scene in a vehicle.
Details provided by the police department describe a momentary exit from the market by Monjaras before he re-entered and opened fire, injuring an adult male and a store employee – the latter hit by a bullet that ricocheted. Both have been hospitalized but are expected to make a full recovery. The violent exchange has since spurred the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit and its Crime Scene Detectives to take helm of the investigation, they are piecing together the sequence of events and digging into the potential motive behind this abrupt act of violence.
Within the scope of the ongoing investigation, authorities have also detained two of Monjaras' family members. His brother, Jesus Bracamonte Monjaras, 23, was arrested on charges of felony accessory and the misdemeanor of carrying a concealed firearm, as confirmed by a social media post from the Town of Windsor Police Department. He has since posted his $10,000 bail. Guadalupe Bracamonte, 54, identified as Monjaras' father, was arrested under a felony accessory charge and was later released on zero bail.
The investigation remains active, with police urging anyone holding information to come forward and call the Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (707) 565-2121, maintaining anonymity if desired. Caution is advised against approaching Monjaras due to the danger he may presently pose.
