
A 63-year-old hiker from Colorado was rescued on Tuesday after sustaining a hip injury on Cliff Trail in Kōke‘e State Park. Emergency responders from Waimea Fire Station and Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 arrived shortly after 11:20 a.m. and provided first aid near the second lookout, according to the County of Kauai.
The hiker was prepared for airlift despite the remote location and nature of the injury. A stokes litter was used to safely transport the individual off the trail, as reported by the County of Kauai.
A hiker was safely extracted after a multi-hour rescue that ended shortly after 2:15 p.m. He was transferred to Porter’s landing zone, where AMR and Waimea Fire Station personnel provided emergency care before he was taken to a local hospital, as stated by the County of Kauai.
