According to the Colorado Governor's Office, Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, alongside the Colorado Office of eHealth Innovation (OeHI) and the Colorado Smart Cities Alliance (CSCA), has spearheaded the launch of the eHealth Solutions Challenge (eHSC). The initiative looks to serve up fresh tech solutions to enhance interoperability and the analysis of health data across various agencies and sectors.
With up to $150,000 in seed funding on the table, the eHealth Solutions Challenge is beckoning participants to boldly come forward with technologies that could be trialed in real-world settings. This statewide innovation competition has earmarked up to $50,000 for each of the top projects, enough to back as many as six promising projects. "The eHealth Solutions Challenge not only encourages innovation but also invites collaboration between agencies across our great state," said Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, as per the Colorado Governor's Office. Her administration has made healthcare access, quality, and affordability a focal point over the past seven years.
At the heart of the eHSC is a core question that begs for an answer: "How do we increase interoperability and analysis of health and health-related data across multiple agencies, organizations, and jurisdictions while preserving security, privacy, and sovereignty?" Clearly, the issue at hand is both nuanced and complex, requiring a careful balance between unifying disparate data systems and protecting sensitive information. The Colorado Smart Cities Alliance, as described by the state's press release, represents a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country.
