Residents of Colorado Springs are experiencing a winter pause as the City Administrative Offices have shut down today due to severe snowfall.
The City of Colorado Springs announced the closure, impacting not only administrative functions but also the workings of the Colorado Springs Municipal Court. This prompted a flurry of rescheduling for those due in court or on jury duty; they can call 719-385-5928 once the weather improves and regular operations resume. In response to this blanket of winter, Mountain Metro has also delayed its bus and Metro Mobility ADA Paratransit services until 8 a.m and these services may face further delays with a deteriorating forecast.
Outdoor plans will need to be postponed as several City parks, like the iconic Garden of the Gods and North Cheyenne Cañon, have been made inaccessible for vehicle traffic, emphasizing safety over leisure as snow continues to settle on the ground.
Amidst the closures and delays, it’s noteworthy that emergency responders and essential City personnel are maintaining their normal schedules, a testament to their commitment to the community’s well-being. Public Works Operations & Maintenance Division crews are actively clearing the primary and secondary streets as more snow piles up. Drivers are advised to give themselves ample time and maintain cautious distances, especially near the snowplow, which has limited visibility due to the ongoing weather onslaught.
