In a recent operation, local law enforcement arrested a man who was found asleep at the wheel while in possession of a firearm. The incident took place on the 1300 block of FM 1960 Road West, where deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in an active lane of traffic.
When deputies arrived, they found the driver, later identified as Tivon Griffith, a convicted felon, asleep behind the wheel. Upon waking him, a search revealed a loaded firearm. The Constable Mark Herman’s Office reported the arrest and the charges filed against Griffith.
According to a Facebook post, Tivon Griffith was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, according to a statement from Constable Herman. At the time of the report, his bond was pending a decision from the 184th District Court. The case raises broader concerns about public safety and recidivism when felons are found in possession of firearms.
Details about Griffith’s background or how he obtained the firearm have not been released. For updates on local crime and safety information, Constable Herman’s office encourages the public to follow their social media channels and use the “C4 NOW” mobile app.
