The City of Conyers is launching an initiative to foster direct dialogue between its elected officials and community members, dubbed Conyers Conversations and Listening Sessions. The inaugural event is slated for Monday, February 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and will be held at Cherokee Run Golf Club, according to an announcement on the city’s official website.
City Council Members Charlie Bryant and Sherri L. Washington, who represent Conyers District 2, are set to host the first session. In a statement made by the city’s website, Washington explained, “We want to provide an intimate space where we can speak freely with our constituents on a topic that’s of interest to them, while gathering valuable feedback from citizens.” The topic at the forefront of the upcoming session will be the future prospects of the Georgia International Horse Park.
The initiative’s conception can be traced back to recent discussions at a planning retreat. It represents a concerted effort by Conyers officials to enhance community involvement in local governance. Citizens of Conyers are encouraged to join the discussions, offering a platform for residents to voice their perspectives and to directly address their representatives.
Following the inaugural event, future Conyers Conversations and Listening Sessions will be publicized using various channels. Interested individuals can stay informed through the city’s social media accounts, its website, and updates from the council members involved in hosting the events, as per the city’s announcement.
