Almost three months after 17-year-old Marki Terril Anthony was fatally shot during a suspected robbery in north Phoenix, authorities have taken three young suspects into custody. The shooting, which occurred on October 14 near 12th Street and Bell Road, left Anthony critically injured. Despite the efforts of neighbors and first responders, he later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, according to police.
Arrests and Charges
On January 23, Phoenix police arrested 19-year-old Raul Clavel and 18-year-olds Demarius Shaw and David Brunt. The three individuals were booked on charges of first-degree murder, with bonds set at $1 million each, according to AZFamily. Maricopa County booking photos accompanying the report show the three men in custody.
How Police Describe the Case
Officers say Anthony was found with at least one gunshot wound, and neighbors attempted life-saving measures before he was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators believe the incident began as an attempted robbery, which escalated into an exchange of gunfire, based on a Phoenix Police statement reviewed by FOX 10 Phoenix.

Legal Next Steps
The three suspects face first-degree murder charges and are expected to be arraigned as the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office reviews the investigation, officials told FOX 10 Phoenix. Since they are 18 and 19, the men were booked into adult custody. Prosecutors will set future court dates and make formal charging decisions.
