The Dallas Police Department announced a recent shakeup in its ranks, stemming from two disciplinary hearings that concluded yesterday. Two officers faced termination on grounds of misconduct and fitness for duty, as per the Dallas Police Department.
At the center of the disciplinary action, Police Officer Cesar Rangel, assigned to the Northeast Division, was ousted following his arrest for indecent assault, which is classified as a Class A Misdemeanor. Further examining Officer Rangel's case, the Department disclosed that he misused city equipment for non-departmental business. Before his termination, Rangel, who wore badge #12461, had been part of the force since September 2022.
Alongside Rangel, Sergeant John Fiore from the Central Division also faced dismissal. His ejection from the department came after a psychological and psychiatric evaluation determined him unfit to perform his duties as a member of the Dallas Police Department. Unlike Rangel, Sergeant Fiore had a longer tenure, beginning his service in May 2007, wearing badge #9124.
The Dallas Police Department, under Chief Comeaux’s oversight, conducted the hearings that led to the decisive actions taken against the former employees. These terminations serve as a public reminder of DPD's commitment to accountability and the integrity of its personnel. As it stands, Chief Comeaux has not issued further commentary beyond the official statements on the department's website.
