
A quiet stretch of the 1800 block of Canosa Avenue near Eastern and Sahara avenues turned into a homicide scene Friday afternoon when a person was stabbed and later died at a hospital, according to Las Vegas police. Officers say they have taken a suspect into custody, and detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are now working to piece together what led up to the attack. Investigators have not said what may have sparked the violence or released further details.
As reported by FOX5 Las Vegas, the stabbing happened on the 1800 block of Canosa Avenue, just east of downtown. The victim was taken from the scene to a hospital, where they later died from their injuries. Police told the station the case remains a developing story while detectives canvass the area and collect evidence.
Recent Violence Near Downtown
The fatal attack comes on the heels of other serious violence near downtown. In mid-December, a separate incident in central Las Vegas ended in a deadly stabbing after a man was reportedly “chasing people around with a knife,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. That earlier case drew in the LVMPD Homicide Section and helped fuel ongoing concerns about public safety in the area.
