The clock is ticking for Cuyahoga County property owners to pay their property taxes. A recent release by the Cuyahoga County Treasury announced that tax bills are now available for viewing and payment online. Property taxes for the current cycle must be settled by February 19, with several payment options made promptly available to taxpayers.
Physical tax bills will start their journey through the postal system at the end of January, but for those eager to get a jumpstart on the payment process, requests for an early courtesy copy can be made by contacting the Treasurer's Office directly. With an eye to accommodate, the Treasurer's Office has opted to extend their operational hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on February 17 through 19, ensuring extra time for those needing to settle their dues in person.
For taxpayers requiring a more tactile method, the County has provided several in-person venues. Payments can be made with cash, checks, money orders, and both credit and debit cards at the Treasurer's Office, located at the County Administrative Headquarters, and through drop boxes or select Auto Title and KeyBank locations. Telephone payments can also be arranged by calling the dedicated line at 1-877-738-1212.
Still, the convenience of online transactions might be the preferred route for many. An e-check delivers a fee-free option, while credit and debit card payments will incur additional charges. And for those seeking to proactively manage their finances, EasyPay facilitates monthly, semiannual, or yearly installments without extra cost. However, the County makes a pointed reminder regarding the USPS's evolving postmark practices; taxpayers mailing payments close to the deadline should carefully ensure their payment is timely stamped or consider the more immediate digital channels.
Taxpayers delinquent on their tax bills aren't left in the cold either. Information about the County's Delinquent Tax Payment Plan options can be accessed, extending a lifeline for those in arrears to find a feasible path forward.
Note that county buildings will close on February 16 for the federal holiday, so in-person services will not be available on that day. For more details on property tax payments, visit cuyahogacounty.gov/treasury.
