A dispute turned deadly in San Antonio’s East Side when an argument over funds escalated to a fatal shooting early today, Fox San Antonio reports. The confrontation, which began inside a residence, spilled into the streets on Cardiff Avenue near Latimer Street, culminating in a man being shot in the chest, just past midnight.
The aftermath left the victim and his girlfriend desperate as they fled to a secondary location, in the 400 block of Honey Boulevard, to seek assistance following the gunfire. The chaos did not end with the trigger's pull, according to KTSA. The man, in his 20s, later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, leaving unanswered questions in the wake of his passing.
In response to the shooting, San Antonio police cordoned off the home, detaining as many as ten individuals for questioning in an attempt to piece together the series of events that led to the man’s death. As officials navigated through the witness accounts, no arrests had been publicly confirmed.
Both the suspect and the events preceding the shooting remain under investigation, with the SAPD diligently working to identify who fired the shot, while specifics on the altercation over money and how it devolved to violence continue to be scrutinized, arrests are expected as the complex web of testimonies and evidence is untangled.
