A man riding a bicycle was killed today in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 90 near Crosby-Lynchburg Road in northeast Harris County. The crash prompted a large law enforcement response and temporarily closed multiple lanes while investigators examined the scene.
What officials said
Harris County Sheriff’s Office units responded to the 2400 block of U.S. Highway 90 for a head-on collision involving a bicyclist, according to initial details posted through social media post. The cyclist was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Deputies remained on scene as emergency personnel cleared debris and collected evidence.

In the same post, Sheriff Gonzalez noted that FM 2100 was closed in both directions and eastbound U.S. 90 was also blocked. He said the driver of the other truck remained at the scene, while a female driver was taken to the hospital in fair condition. Gonzalez also designated the southeast corner of the intersection as a media staging area, providing reporters a location to park and receive updates from officials.
Traffic and response
The closures were expected to impact travel through northeast Harris County for several hours while investigators and cleanup crews worked to reopen lanes. This section of U.S. 90 has previously experienced major incidents, including a diesel spill that prompted lane closures and a hazmat response, according to FOX 26 Houston.
