The court dates for three DeKalb County Jail escapees—Stevenson Charles, Yusuf Minor, and Naod Yohannes—have been postponed to January 16 in Fort Lauderdale. A federal judge approved a motion for a continuance. The three men, facing federal kidnapping charges after escaping during a security check in Georgia, will remain in Florida custody, according to Atlanta News First.
Following their escape, the three fugitives forced a rideshare driver to transport them from Georgia to Florida, threatening her and accessing her bank accounts. They were apprehended in Broward County shortly after midnight on December 23, 2025, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
At a federal arraignment and pretrial detention hearing in Florida, the three men faced proceedings related to the alleged kidnapping of a rideshare driver. Authorities say they bound and threatened the driver during a trip from Georgia to Florida and accessed her financial accounts. The men are set to be extradited back to Georgia to face additional charges connected to their escape.
The victim was held for hours during the interstate incident, with her hands bound and a rope around her neck, and faced repeated threats, including an assault when she attempted to escape. Authorities reported that the men also forced her to transfer funds from their accounts to her debit cards for use at various Florida locations.
