Residents and businesses in Delray Beach are being asked to temporarily suspend watering their lawns and landscapes as city officials implement a 72-hour pause on irrigation. The measure is intended to prevent a drop in water pressure that could lead to a citywide boil water notice, officials said.
In a city announcement, officials said the temporary measure is intended to maintain reliable water service while repairs are underway, warning that continued irrigation could reduce water pressure across the city. To help prevent that, Delray Beach has turned to its neighboring cities, activating emergency interconnections with Boca Raton and Boynton Beach to serve as a backup water support system.
Moreover, the city's free chlorine maintenance period has been jump-started ahead of schedule. Initially set for tomorrow, the city's already begun the process as of yesterday to bolster the system's reliability during its patch-up work. In a piece of good news reported yesterday by the City of Delray Beach, "City staff is working diligently to restore normal operations and maintain safe, reliable water service."
For further information and updates, residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the city's official advisories. More details can be accessed through the City of Delray Beach website.
