Forest Ridge Park in Raleigh will host a Winter Tree Identification Workshop on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. The workshop is designed for participants 18 and older and costs $10, according to the City of Raleigh's announcement.
Attendees will learn to identify local trees in winter by examining features such as bark, buds, branches, and branching patterns, even without leaves. Guides will be provided for participants to keep, and attendees are advised to dress warmly for outdoor learning. The program also offers professional development credit, allowing participants to earn three hours of Criteria II (outdoor) or Criteria III credit toward N.C. Environmental Educator Certification.
Space is limited, and reservations can be made on RecLink. The workshop provides an opportunity for hands-on education and a closer connection to the local ecosystem.
