
A high-speed chase ensued in the Highlands Ranch area on Monday evening when Douglas County Sheriff's deputies located a vehicle linked to an armed carjacking, as reported by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The pursuit, which began after an 8:30 p.m. alert from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office on the lookout for the suspect, concluded with an injured officer and the violent apprehension of the carjacking suspect near the intersection of County Line Road and Santa Fe Drive.
Douglas County law enforcement officials reported that during the pursuit, the suspect rammed into a deputy's car, resulting in injury. Following this, the suspect fired shots at the deputies, precipitating a return of gunfire. One deputy was injured at the culmination of the pursuit and transported to the hospital, but is expected to recover. As explained by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in a statement, "The suspect began firing from the inside of his vehicle, trying to kill our deputies." The male driver of the suspect vehicle sustained injuries during the confrontation and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for medical attention. A passenger found in the carjacking vehicle was also detained due to outstanding warrants against them.
