Residents and nighttime travelers in downtown Raleigh should expect construction as Raleigh Water continues infrastructure improvements this week. Maintenance crews are working on the 100 block of East Martin Street, between South Wilmington and South Blount streets, nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting yesterday and continuing through Friday, weather permitting.
The nighttime work is part of a larger effort to upgrade the city’s aging water system. City of Raleigh say the project aims to improve reliability, reduce the risk of water main breaks, and support the infrastructure needs of the growing downtown area.
Officials say the work is temporary and designed to avoid disrupting water service. While it may cause brief delays, the upgrades are aimed at strengthening Raleigh’s water system for the future.
Raleigh Water thanks residents and drivers for their patience and says crews will work to complete the project safely and as quickly as possible, aiming to restore normal conditions on East Martin Street promptly.
