On a stretch of I-95 in Brevard County, two patrol vehicles became unexpected participants in a car crash while a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was investigating a separate incident. According to ClickOrlando, the collision happened near mile marker 185 when a driver in a blue Kia failed to halt for a Brevard County Sheriff's Office vehicle and subsequently rammed into it, causing the sheriff's vehicle to slam into the FHP car ahead.
Authorities closed the left lane during their initial investigation, according to reports by FOX 35 Orlando, which was ignored by the blue Kia speeding northward. The sheriff's office patrol car was unoccupied, finding itself in the midst of the crash, while an FHP trooper was stationed inside the vehicle in front. The rear of the sheriff's patrol car was struck by the Kia, consequently impacting the car ahead.
The impact of the collision resulted in serious injuries to the driver of the blue Kia, who was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center, as confirmed by both sources. Minor injuries were sustained by the FHP trooper involved, who was also taken to Holmes Regional for care. Fortunately, the deputy from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office was not injured in the crash.
