Duluth residents and interested community members, take heed. The City of Duluth has announced an open house event set for this Thursday, January 15, to delve into the Fourth Street Reconstruction project—a scheme poised to overhaul the stretch between Mesaba Avenue and Sixth Avenue E. This gathering, aiming to kick off conversations about the street's future, will be hosted at the Central Hillside Community Center, offering a drop-in style discourse from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
In an update posted on their Facebook page, city officials delineated the particulars of the project, which are set to span multiple years. Starting with the preliminary engineering and design phase through 2027, followed by actual construction taking place between the years 2028 and 2029. This grand redevelopment is backed financially by Municipal State Aid for Streets alongside utility funds.
The city has designed the open house as a platform to collect public opinion without a formal presentation dominating the proceedings. The statement noted that city staff and the design team will be "available to discuss the project and gather feedback throughout the meeting," waiting for community members whenever it suits them to drop by.
