The City of Durham and Durham County Government will open a mass emergency shelter in response to the approaching winter storm. Northern High School will serve as the shelter location.
According to the City of Durham's Facebook post, the shelter is located at 4622 N. Roxboro Street in the main gym of Northern High School and will open at 10:00 a.m. today. Services available include cots, meals, showers, phone charging, transportation assistance, and pet kennels.
Individuals planning to use the shelter are encouraged to bring necessary medications, special dietary food, hygiene items, and personal comfort items if available.
GoDurham will provide transportation to the shelter as weather conditions allow. Residents are advised to monitor the City of Durham’s official severe weather updates page for the latest information.
