A summer evening outside an East Austin gas station turned brutal when an elderly man was attacked and robbed of his lawn-care equipment, and police say they are still trying to track down the man responsible.
The Austin Police Department says the assault happened on June 13, 2025, around 8:55 p.m. in the parking lot of the Valero at 1135 Airport Boulevard. Investigators report that a man confronted the victim, grabbed lawn equipment from the victim’s truck, and then struck him during the encounter, according to CBS Austin.
Suspect Description And Assault
Authorities describe the suspect as a white or Hispanic man, roughly 30 to 40 years old, with a heavy build. He was last seen in a white Aeropostale T-shirt, dark jeans, tan shoes, and a black Canelo boxing bear hat. Officers say he punched the victim multiple times during the attack, per CBS Austin.
How To Help
Detectives are hoping the public release of the suspect’s image and description will jog memories and generate fresh leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact APD’s Robbery Unit at 512-974-5092 or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest, according to the Austin Police Department.
The renewed appeal comes nearly seven months after the June attack as investigators continue to work on the case. Police are urging people who were in the area that night, as well as anyone with surveillance or dash-camera footage, to review recordings for anything that might help identify the suspect.
