East Las Vegas Valley Crash at Owens and Walnut Intersection Leaves One Hospitalized

A recent collision at the junction of Owens Avenue and Walnut Road in the east Las Vegas valley resulted in one person hospitalized yesterday evening, as reported by KTNV.

The Las Vegas Metro Police detailed that just past 7 p.m., a sedan was driving south on Gateway Road and failed to adhere to a stop sign upon reaching Owens Avenue. The sedan subsequently struck an SUV in the westbound lane, the collision prompting road closures to facilitate emergency response and an investigation. 8 News Now confirmed that Owens Avenue was shut down in both directions following the crash.

RTC Southern Nevada had broadcast an alert around 7:21 p.m., signifying disruptions and advising motorists in the area to seek alternative routes. The driver of the sedan, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was rushed to a local hospital; details concerning their condition have been sparse, though recovery was anticipated.

According to police officials, the lanes were reopened later that evening, allowing traffic to resume its usual flow. The identity of the injured driver and the SUV's occupants has not been made public at this time.
