East Oltorf is getting its tacos back. Con Madre Cocina, the longtime Travis Heights taco trailer, is rolling back into its familiar spot this Friday at 7 a.m., returning after a month of operating out of a North Austin ghost kitchen while the owners upgraded their rig. The old truck is out, a new 24-foot food trailer is in, and neighbors can look for it on the corner in time for breakfast service.
In a statement to CultureMap Austin, CEO Alfredo Bustinza confirmed that Con Madre will resume on-site service at 628 East Oltorf St. this Friday at 7 a.m. According to the outlet, the new trailer has already been delivered and inspected ahead of the reopening.
Where And When To Find Madre
Per Con Madre Cocina, the business lists two locations, at 628 East Oltorf and at a North Austin spot at 5610 N. Interstate 35. Regular hours are Monday–Tuesday 7 a.m.–2 p.m., Wednesday–Friday 7 a.m.–8 p.m., and weekends 8 a.m.–8 p.m. The site also notes that the business traces its recipes to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and that it offers catering and third-party delivery from both locations.
New Trailer Replaces Longtime Setup
CultureMap Austin reports that the family-run operation has worked the East Oltorf block since 2009, and that the 24-foot trailer now takes over for the trusty truck the team used for years. The delivery and inspection cleared the way for the crew to move back after this month of ghost-kitchen duty.
