El Paso County is rolling out a winter survival blitz starting January 12, offering free cold-weather gear and basic supplies at community centers across the county. Officials say residents can pick up sweatshirts, beanies, gloves, blankets, and portable heaters to help ride out the colder weather.
According to El Paso County, distribution runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until supplies run out. Pickups are set at the Montana Vista, Fabens, Agua Dulce, and Canutillo community centers.
Where To Pick Up Supplies
The County of El Paso lists Agua Dulce and Montana Vista among its active community centers that host public programs and donation drives. These spots often serve as relief hubs during rough weather, and county officials say the current giveaways will run on regular weekday business hours while supplies last.
Why The County Is Acting
As temperatures drop, local officials have been activating warming centers and other relief options. Libraries and recreation centers are opening to offer temporary shelter and limited blankets, according to KVIA. Residents looking for a nearby warming center or additional help are encouraged to call 3-1-1 for referrals.
How To Get Updates
County officials are asking residents to follow updates on the El Paso County Facebook page, where information on distribution times and availability will be posted. Anyone with questions or needing assistance can contact county offices or call 3-1-1, and the county’s Facebook post will carry the latest on locations and supplies.
