El Paso ISD is tackling an emergency as a significant water main break hits thousands of families and several school campuses in Northeast and parts of Central El Paso. According to El Paso ISD, some schools have been forced to close, while others remain operational under a boil water notice. Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk has stated, "The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority," as per El Paso ISD. His full statement outlined the ongoing efforts to handle the situation, as well as the support received from various community partners, including military neighbor Fort Bliss.
As the district grapples with the disruption, bottled water has been distributed to the campuses under the boil water notice. In the assurance of water safety, Lusk acknowledged the district's partnership with Fort Bliss in providing water resources. El Paso ISD detailed, "Campuses operating under a boil water notice have received bottled water for students and staff and are following established safety protocols." This careful management of water access is crucial as officials continue to ensure the safety of the community.
Amidst the chaos, the strength of the El Paso community has been put to the test. The district's teams have rallied support, delivering water and standing with the staff and students traversing this challenge. Principals are making rounds in classrooms, reaffirming the district's commitment to care and support. "We are also grateful for the support of our community partners," Lusk mentioned in his public address, as obtained by El Paso ISD, as he commended the collective efforts during these trying times.
