A water main rupture has brought a stream of disruptions to the Northeast area of El Paso, following an incident late Saturday near Girl Scout Way and Transmountain Road. According to a Facebook post from the El Paso Police Department, law enforcement officers have been on site providing traffic control and securing the repair zones amid the ongoing water outage affecting residents.
The El Paso Police are urging the public to avoid several streets, including Dyer Street and Rushing Road, as well as the vicinity of the Girl Scout and Transmountain intersection. The reason for the caution is due to standing water, mud, and potential danger posed by the freezing temperatures that have been making the conditions in the area hazardous. City teams have been working non-stop to restore water service as promptly and safely as possible.
Adding to the local community's challenges, a Boil Water Notice has been declared, set to come into effect at 5:00 PM. "Until further notice, water used for drinking or cooking should be boiled for at least two minutes," the El Paso Police Department stated. This precaution is a standard response to potential contamination that can occur when water pressure drops or is cut off entirely, as is the case currently.
