The Elk Grove Police Department reported that officers were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to a report of a 17-year-old allegedly attempting to attack his family with a knife. This information comes directly from a social media post by the department detailing the events.
Upon arrival, the situation escalated when the teenager barricaded himself within the confines of the home, leading to a stand-off with law enforcement. The Elk Grove Police Department's Crisis Response Unit, which includes both SWAT and Crisis Negotiators, was brought in to de-escalate the situation.
