The City of Elyria, Ohio, is rallying its citizens for a harmonious tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through song and community spirit. A public service announcement on the City of Elyria, Ohio's Facebook page invites all local vocalists to join forces for the Reunion Choir at the city’s 40th Annual Ruby Red Day of Service event.
Under the baton of Pastor Gwendolyn Gilmore, with Music Director Tommie D. Harris of GEMS helming the musical direction, the choir will render its performance on January 19, this Monday. The final rehearsal — a preparatory step for the choir, or anyone willing to lend their voice, to fine-tune their harmonies — has been scheduled for January 17 at 1:00 PM, to be held at the Rapha Academy (formerly Northwood Middle School), which is located at 700 Gulf Road, Elyria.
The event underscores a community's commitment to honor King's legacy through shared endeavor and the collective voice of its people. "All are welcome to participate," the City of Elyria, Ohio, announcement declared, echoing a sentiment of inclusiveness that is reflective of King's own aspirations for unity and equality.
"Join us as we unite in music, service, and remembrance in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.," the City of Elyria, Ohio's missive calls out, inviting residents of all ages and backgrounds to take part in this vibrant remembrance. For those wishing to be a part of the grand choral tribute but have yet to attend a rehearsal, the upcoming session provides a final opportunity to be woven into the fabric of this resonant homage.
