
Last night, a tragic shooting in Fall River claimed the lives of a mother and her son, stirring the community and prompting a swift law enforcement response. As reported by Boston 25 News, 54-year-old Elizabeth Almeida and her 25-year-old son Nicholas Almeida were found with gunshot wounds after police received a 911 call around 8:05 p.m. to 431 Barnes Street.
The victims were quickly transported to the hospital; however, both were pronounced deceased shortly after their arrival. The Bristol County District Attorney's Office confirmed that the suspect, 54-year-old Arlington Cole, who reportedly had a dating relationship with Elizabeth, was apprehended at the scene in possession of a firearm, Boston 25 News. At this time, Cole faces two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, causing serious bodily injury.
An ongoing investigation is underway, carried out by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office alongside the Fall River Police Department.
