
An SUV was found partially submerged in the Rocky River near the Cleveland Yachting Club, leading to one confirmed fatality, Rocky River police reported. The discovery of the vehicle and the deceased individual, a 50-year-old woman from Brimfield, was made yesterday afternoon, as detailed in a statement obtained by Cleveland19 News.
According to the Rocky River Police Department, the car was spotted off the south end of the island in the east channel of the river by someone who reported the situation to the authorities. Officers who arrived at the scene near 200 Yacht Club Drive confirmed the presence of the partially submerged SUV as well as a body in the water, described as unresponsive by News 5 Cleveland.
The Rocky River Fire Department promptly responded to the scene, where they pronounced the woman dead. Investigations into the cause of the tragic incident are underway, with the Westshore Enforcement Bureau Accident Investigation Unit participating alongside Rocky River Police.
