The incident occurred around 1 a.m. as the vehicle was navigating the ramp from eastbound I-276 to US 1 in Bensalem, Bucks County, according to a report by PennLive. The rollover crash left the tanker flipped onto its roof and claimed the life of the driver of whom little information was immediately available.
Rescue and cleanup crews worked into the morning to manage the aftermath of the accident, which caused notable traffic disruptions in the area, NBC10 Philadelphia provided aerial footage showing the overturned tanker as traffic slowed through the crash vicinity, crews were on the scene attempting to clear the wreckage and facilitate the flow of the morning commute.
Chopper 6 flew over the crash site capturing images of the overturned truck lying down an embankment off the ramp, revealing the severity of the accident. Authorities have disclosed that the male driver was trapped inside following the crash and was pronounced dead thereafter, but as of this time, details on what caused the tanker to lose control and overturn have not been released.
