The manhunt for the fifth suspect in the Tipton County home invasion that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Corey Webb concluded Friday with an arrest, Sheriff Shannon Beasley confirmed. Ladarrell Mashawn "Shawn" Miller was captured by the U.S. Marshals Two River Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis, hiding in the attic of a residential home. Action News 5 reported that Miller faces charges including first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and especially aggravated burglary.
According to the Tipton County Sheriff's office, the incident on December 29 left Webb fatally wounded from multiple gunshots in his home on John Hill Road. As part of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement aims to thoroughly search and to potentially identify any additional suspects. In his statement, Sheriff Beasley insisted on thanking the Marshals for their diligence. "As we said from the beginning, we will continue to be the voice for Corey throughout this investigation and the prosecution of this case," Beasley expressed in a statement obtained by WREG News.
Miller now joins the four previously arrested individuals: two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, whose identities are undisclosed, along with 19-year-old Haleah Denise Brooks and 20-year-old Ashton Wolsefer. Each of these co-defendants faces charges mirroring those placed on Miller. The legal proceedings for Miller are set to begin, with an arraignment scheduled before General Sessions Judge M.O. Eckel on January 22 at 9 a.m.
In light of these events, the Sheriff's Office has affirmed its commitment to justice and its resolve to serve as an advocate for the victim. "There are four other defendants in this case that are already incarcerated, so Miller will be joining his co-defendants... who also remain in the Tipton County Jail," Beasley stated, as detailed in a report by FOX13 Memphis. These recent developments signify a continuation of the Sheriff department’s efforts to ensure that all involved parties are held accountable for their alleged roles in the tragic event.
