Hive Bagel & Deli, the downtown bakery that quietly turned into a must-stop for carb lovers, is gearing up for a big move into East Memphis with a much larger storefront along the White Station corridor. The new spot will give the crew room to stretch out its baked-goods program and roll into a fuller lunch and pastry service.
New East Memphis Home
The East Memphis location is slated for 585 Erin Drive in the former Holiday Deli & Ham Co. space. City permit records list roughly 4,540 square feet and an occupant load of about 40. What Now reported on sign and electrical permits and noted visible construction activity as the team moved through its buildout.
Menu Expands Beyond Bagels
The East Memphis shop is set to feature a noticeably bigger menu, with additional sandwiches, soups, salads, breads, and an extensive pastry lineup, according to Memphis Business Journal. The shift would move Hive away from the mostly grab-and-go model downtown and into more of a full bakery cafe, with increased seating and more room to handle catering orders.
From Downtown Following Demand
Hive first built its following at 276 South Front Street, Suite 105, downtown, where its bagels and pastries steadily drew attention, according to the Downtown Memphis Commission's business listing. Owner Josh Steiner first hinted at an East Memphis expansion on a Sound Bites podcast, as reported by The Daily Memphian, and local social media posts later showed Steiner touring the Erin Drive space.
What To Expect
Local coverage, along with Hive's own progress updates, has pointed to a summer opening. Earlier reporting said the team was hoping to be customer-ready by June as permits cleared. What Now highlighted the June target, and the Memphis Business Journal published a fresh update on the expansion on June 1.
Once the new Hive opens, customers can expect a larger pastry case, more room to sit and linger, and a wider mix of sandwiches and soups that could turn the White Station corridor into even more of a breakfast and lunch destination.
