
A man was killed in South Sacramento on Tuesday evening. He was hit by a vehicle near Fruitridge Road and 49th Street shortly after 7:45 p.m. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, the Sacramento Police Department said, according to KCRA.
The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a crash in South Sacramento where a man was struck while crossing Fruitridge Road. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating, and DUI is not suspected; the road was closed until around 10:30 p.m., causing traffic disruptions.
Officer Anthony Gamble emphasized pedestrian safety, stating, "We have to be aware of our surroundings," and advised, "I should be crossing at well-lit areas, intersections with crosswalks, preferably," as reported by ABC10. This incident, the city’s first pedestrian fatality of the year, emphasizes the need for caution and ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety.
