News out of the college football transfer portal indicates that former Arizona State University quarterback Sam Leavitt has decided to transfer to LSU, as confirmed by FOX 10's Blake Niemann and reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel. The athlete, known for leading the Sun Devils to last season's College Football Playoff, had made visits to various schools including Kentucky, Miami, and Tennessee, but ultimately chose LSU, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
The decision to transfer comes after Leavitt sat out the majority of the past season due to an injury, only playing in seven games before undergoing season-ending surgery; despite his limited play, he managed to throw for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns with three interceptions, ASU capped their season with a loss at the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and finishing sixth in the Big 12 Conference with an 8-5 record, according to Thamel's report.
Leavitt's journey to Louisiana becomes more intriguing with the recent movements within college football's busy transfer market. After ASU brought in Kentucky transfer quarterback Cutter Boley, Leavitt was spotted at an LSU basketball game alongside the university's first-year head coach Lane Kiffin, this encounter took place when news broke of Demond Williams Jr.'s departure from Washington, a player with prior connections to Kiffin from high school recruitment who was promptly linked to LSU, according to ABC15.
