Sean Dicer, a 53-year-old former teacher from Highlands School District, is facing a slew of new charges amid disturbing revelations of sexual assault involving his former students. After detectives delved further into the case, more individuals have emerged with accusations against the ex-educator. The Allegheny County Police Department issued a statement yesterday confirming the updated charges, as reported by WPXI.
Initially standing accused of sexually assaulting two students, the former teacher's list of charges now includes indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors. A third victim, who is now 28, came forward detailing abuse that occurred back in 2007 when Dicer was his fifth-grade teacher, stating that Dicer would offer what he called BD Bucks, a classroom currency, as bribes, according to CBS News Pittsburgh. This victim recounted multiple incidents of inappropriate conduct that allegedly involved Dicer taking photos of the children in compromising situations.
A criminal complaint reveals that the third victim reached out to the authorities on Dec. 5, a day after Dicer's arrest in December. He disclosed that Dicer conducted a program where he rewarded students with fake BD Bucks for classroom achievements. These transactions morphed into a mechanism for Dicer to lure the victim and a fourth student into solitary circumstances where the abuse took place. The complaint details, incredibly, that the fourth victim died in 2022.
According to CBS News Pittsburgh, investigations into Dicer began with allegations made by a 16-year-old boy in November, who asserted abuse when he was aged 11 or 12. The teenager described Dicer as a "father figure" before the abuse began at Dicer's home. The allegations suggest an ongoing pattern of grooming and exploitation, with evidence of payments to one of the victims totaling over $6,000. "Police said the abuse continued until school started, and when one of the victims threatened to tell, Dicer would allegedly apologize and offer him anything he wanted."
