The streets of Brooklyn became the tragic setting for the end of what once was a promising onset to a career in entertainment as Kianna Underwood, former Nickelodeon star, was killed in a hit-and-run last week. Underwood, who lent her voice to "Little Bill" and appeared on "All That," was hit by two different vehicles while crossing an intersection in the Brownsville neighborhood, according to police statements. The first vehicle, a black Ford Explorer SUV, was seized by the NYPD for forensic examination after it was located by law enforcement, reported CBS News New York. The owner of SUV was not placed under arrest as there was not enough evidence to suggest he was driving at the time of the incident.
Underwood, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene after surveillance video reviewed by law enforcement showed her being dragged for two blocks before her body came to rest outside a laundromat. The investigation into the second vehicle involved, described as a black-gray sedan that also struck Underwood, is ongoing, with the vehicle remaining at large. In a previous report, ABC7 NY News obtained footage showing the event on Pitkin Avenue.
The NYPD is appealing to the public for information regarding the case. Calls to the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline can be made anonymously, encouraging potential witnesses or those with knowledge to aid in the investigation.
