Fort Lauderdale is advancing urban development with a new multi-use parking and public safety project at Holiday Park. Approved by the City Commission, the project, led by Holiday Park Parking Partners, will include a parking garage with a rooftop vertiport, a surface-level public parking lot, and a combined Fire-Rescue/EMS Substation.
The project site, located near NE 8th Street and NE 10th Avenue, is planned to address current parking needs and accommodate future growth in the area. According to Mayor Dean Trantalis, the project aligns with the city’s approach to environmental considerations and long-term planning, according to the City of Fort Lauderdale.
Holiday Park, which includes destinations such as The Parker, FTL War Memorial Auditorium, Baptist Health IcePlex, and the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center, will see improvements with the planned parking and emergency services project. Commissioner Steven Glassman stated that the expansion of parking and emergency response capabilities supports both public safety and accessibility for residents and visitors. He also noted that the rooftop vertiport is part of the city’s long-term planning efforts.
Although the project has received initial approval, final details on its scope, cost, and operations are still being finalized. These elements will be negotiated and later presented to the City Commission for review and approval at a public meeting to be scheduled.
