The National Weather Service in Fort Worth is alerting North Texas residents about a lingering cold front that's expected to cause wind chills to drop to freezing levels. According to the weather forecast for Dallas, residents can expect "sunny, with a high near 47 degrees today, with wind chill values between 20 and 30 early in the day. The clear skies tonight will lead to a low around 19 degrees, and northerly winds could bring gusts as high as 20 mph.
With wind chill values forecasted to dip as low as zero, the Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect "from midnight Friday Night to 11 AM CST Saturday." This severe cold could lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken, the advisory warns. The rest of the weekend looks slightly more forgiving, with the forecast showing sunny days with highs nearing the 50s, and wind chills easing somewhat during daytime hours.
Residents are advised to dress warmly in layers, donning a hat, face mask, and gloves if going outside, to combat the cold. Calm winds expected to become south around 5 mph after midnight on Saturday will usher in a slight temperature rise. However, the early mornings might still present dangerous conditions for those who must venture outdoors.
Looking ahead into the week, the cold will give way to warmer temperatures with "mostly sunny, with a high near 62" anticipated by Monday, according to the weather forecast. The trend continues with mostly cloudy skies and highs approaching the mid-60s, though there is a slight chance of showers coming Tuesday night.
