Clearwater's downtown scene is set to receive a fresh injection of nightlife with the introduction of the Fresh Start Market, a new Friday night market taking off in downtown Clearwater. The market, which is a collaborative effort by St. Petersburg College Corporate College and the City of Clearwater Downtown Development Board (DDB), is aimed at promoting local vendors, artists, and students while also spurring the economic and social revitalization of the area. According to a release from the City of Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency, visitors can expect a diverse mix of artisan goods, live entertainment, and activities perfect for the whole family.
Undeniably set to become a staple for locals and tourists alike, Fresh Start Market is scheduled to run for five consecutive Fridays, offering themed nights starting tomorrow. Citizens can quickly expect an atmosphere of community as they browse through offerings under the glow of themed lights and the buzz of live musicians. The opening theme, "Glow into the New Year," promises to set the tone for the series, which will continue with a series of culturally rich evenings including "Latin Nights" and "Caribbean Nights," as detailed on the City of Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency's website.
The initiative not only looks to entertain but also to serve as a launchpad for local entrepreneurship and creativity. "Fresh Start Market creates meaningful opportunities for entrepreneurs while bringing energy and vibrancy to Downtown Clearwater," said Belinthia Berry, Dean of Workforce Development at SPC, in a statement obtained by the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency. With each themed event spearheaded by a different set of vendors, the market series promises a new experience every week, culminating in a special pre-Superbowl party on February 7.
Jesus Nino, Director of the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency, expressed excitement for the chance to not just showcase local merchants but to fully activate the downtown area in a way that encourages people from all walks of life to come together. "The Fresh Start Market will activate Cleveland Street, showcase local merchants, and invite residents and visitors to experience Downtown Clearwater in an engaging way," Nino told the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency.
