
An armed robber in a wig and ski goggles hit a northwest Austin credit union on Wednesday morning, walking out with what police describe as a large amount of cash while employees were inside. Now, Austin police have released surveillance images and a detailed clothing rundown and are asking the public to help put a name to the heavily disguised suspect.
According to FOX 7 Austin, the robbery happened around 10:09 a.m. on Jan. 28 at the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union at 12188 Jollyville Road. Investigators say the suspect pulled a firearm, demanded cash from staff, and then bolted from the scene with a large sum of money.
Police Push For Tips, Cash Reward On The Table
APD’s robbery unit is asking anyone who knows anything about the heist to contact investigators at 512-974-5092. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Capital Area Crime Stoppers at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. Police say a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
Surveillance Shows Wig, Goggles And Reflective Gear
Per the description released by investigators and reported by FOX 7 Austin, the suspect was last seen wearing a black wig, ski goggles and a black face covering. The person also had on a yellow reflective vest over a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with reflective stripes, light-colored gloves and dark shoes. Investigators say the surveillance stills match that outfit and are urging anyone who recognizes the look or the build to come forward.
Detectives Track Leads In Jollyville Road Robbery
No arrests have been announced, and investigators say they are working leads pulled from surveillance footage and witness statements. The case is in the hands of APD’s robbery unit, which is asking anyone with tips or video from the area around the time of the incident to share that information with detectives.
