
Governor Greg Abbott attended the 32nd annual Cops' Cop Banquet hosted by the Assist the Officer Foundation of the Dallas Police Department, where he received the "Back The Blue" Award for his support of Texas law enforcement. Abbott told officers, "You represent the very best of our great state, and Texas is better today because of what you do every day. I just want you to know you have a governor who has your back, and together, we will keep Texas safe and secure," according to the Office of the Texas Governor.
Abbott spoke about recent legislation, describing a new bail reform measure as "The strongest bail reform package in history," which he said "ended the revolving door for violent criminals and is taking violent criminals off our streets." Law enforcement leaders, including Dallas Police Sergeant Ed Lujan and Officer James Parnell, attended the banquet to honor Abbott’s role in promoting public safety, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.
