A birthday party on San Antonio’s Northeast Side turned chaotic late Sunday night when gunfire broke out, leaving two people wounded and sending an alleged shooter on the run, according to police.
The incident unfolded just before 11:30 p.m. in the 8600 block of Starcrest Drive, north of Loop 410. Officers said a woman and a man were hit by the gunfire and taken to nearby hospitals, where both were listed in stable condition.
What Police Say Happened
San Antonio police told KSAT that a fight broke out during the gathering and escalated when a man pulled a gun and fired several shots. A woman was struck in the arm, and a man was hit in the leg.
The alleged shooter took off before officers arrived. Investigators told KSAT they do not yet know whether he left on foot or in a vehicle. Police say the investigation is still very much active.
Northeast Side On Edge
The late-night violence adds to growing neighborhood unease near Loop 410, where a deadly shooting in December had already put residents on alert. Neighbors have voiced concern about repeated nighttime gunfire, and those past incidents have kept investigators watching the area closely.
Investigation Still Open
So far, police have not announced any arrests and have not released a suspect description, according to KSAT.
Authorities are asking anyone who saw or heard anything connected to the shooting to contact the San Antonio Police Department so detectives can track down fresh leads before they go cold.
