Hickory city services are adjusting due to winter weather on Wednesday. Garbage collection will resume on a limited basis: residents on Monday and Tuesday routes should set out their rollout carts on Wednesday, while others should keep carts at the curb until collection is confirmed, according to the City of Hickory.

Recycling and commercial pickups will depend on weather and road conditions. Yard waste collection is postponed until the following Monday. Residents with questions can contact the Solid Waste Division at 828-323-7500. Schedule updates may be issued as conditions change.

Hickory Public Library branches, including Patrick Beaver Memorial and Ridgeview, will operate on their regular schedule from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Highland Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., while Ridgeview Recreation Center will operate from noon to 6 p.m.

Volleyball assessments in Hickory have been rescheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Residents can find updates on city services and activities on the city’s website and social media pages on Facebook and X.
