Homerville residents Crage Bernard Harris and his former spouse Bridget Denise Harris have been convicted in a methamphetamine trafficking case. Crage Harris has been sentenced to more than 24 years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Bridget Harris is awaiting sentencing in March and faces a mandatory minimum of ten years, with a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.
Senior U.S. District Judge W. Louis Sands sentenced Crage Harris on Wednesday. He had pleaded guilty last July to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and Bridget Harris entered a similar plea on the same day. A federal investigation revealed their criminal activities, which were connected to a Mexican drug supply source in Atlanta, after authorities discovered packages suspected of containing illegal drugs linked to their residence.
U.S. Attorney William R. Keyes emphasized that trafficking methamphetamine and other illegal drugs in the Middle District of Georgia will not be tolerated, highlighting the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies to address the flow of narcotics into the community. Jae W. Chung, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division, noted that the sentence removes a dangerous trafficker from the streets.
GBI Director Chris Hosey highlighted the impact of methamphetamine trafficking networks and the coordinated efforts of local, state, and federal law enforcement to investigate those involved in the drug trade. Clinch County Sheriff Raymond Peterson acknowledged the work of the DEA and GBI in keeping drugs off the streets. The investigation into Crage Harris began in 2022 after authorities discovered suspected drug packages and culminated in an April search warrant execution. During multi-agency surveillance, agents observed Bridget Harris transferring the packages into a car trunk. The seized packages contained bottles with a total of approximately 731 grams of liquid methamphetamine.
The investigation and legal proceedings involved multiple agencies, including the DEA, GBI, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Clinch County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. Crage Harris has begun serving his sentence, while Bridget Harris’s sentencing is scheduled in the coming weeks.
