Houston is forecast to see cooler temperatures this weekend following several days of unseasonably warm weather. Click2Houston reports that after starting the new year with record-breaking warmth, the city will see highs near 76° on Saturday and around 68° on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport reached 84°, breaking the previous January record from 2000 by three degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The high far exceeded the average January temperature of 63°. A cold front moving in this weekend is expected to bring cooler, more seasonable conditions.
The incoming cooler air will be paired with dry, northerly winds. Morning temperatures could drop into the 40s and 50s. By Monday, warmer conditions are expected to return, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 75°. No precipitation is expected for Houston’s regular season finale on Sunday at NRG Stadium. After sunset, the night will remain mostly clear with lows near 51°, as per the NWS.
For the remainder of the week, Houston can expect a mix of clouds and sunshine. There is a slight 20% chance of showers on Thursday, with temperatures remaining in the high 70s to low 80s.
