Two men face capital murder charges in connection with a deadly shooting at a local business on West Dyna Drive, which claimed the life of 36-year-old Yaddua Barraza Hernandez. According to the latest updates from the Houston Police Department, Angel Adonis Saldivar-James, 24, had his charges upgraded from murder to capital murder in the 232nd Criminal District Court. Saldivar-James was arrested on December 8, just days after the incident. His accomplice, Oscar Armando Roland Menjevar, faces similar charges, detailed in a release on the City of Houston's news website.
According to the City of Houston's news website, the incident, which happened around 10:45 p.m. on December 4, started when two men, now identified as the suspects, approached the business. "One male shot into the business while the second male took money from the location," HPD Homicide Detectives J. Caten and K. Stringer outlined in the report. The subsequent investigation by authorities led to the identification of Saldivar-James as the gunman, while Menjevar was determined to be the additional suspect involved in the robbery and shooting.
The victim, Yaddua Barraza Hernandez, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. The City of Houston said no other suspects are currently being sought in the case.
