Aldine, Alief, and Anahuac school districts, among others, have closed this weekend due to freezing temperatures and icy roads. The cold front is expected to arrive midday to late Saturday. FOX 26 advises residents to monitor updates through the FOX LOCAL app and take precautions during the storm.
CenterPoint Energy and Entergy Texas said they are prepared for the storm. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Houston. HISD schools and offices will monitor conditions and update families by Sunday regarding closures for Tuesday.
Public schools, nonprofits, and other institutions in Houston have opened warming centers as the region braces for freezing temperatures. Residents are advised to protect pipes, pets, plants, and people during the cold snap.
