As a winter front threatens to bring freezing temperatures to Houston, schools across the region are revising weekend plans. KHOU 11 has extended its Weather Impact Alert through Monday, forecasting ice and rain. Klein ISD has rescheduled all weekend district and campus events, including athletic competitions and high school musicals, and said staff are notifying students and families. The district plans to provide another update by Sunday afternoon.

The Houston Independent School District is also adjusting plans ahead of the cold snap. According to Click2Houston, all boys and girls varsity basketball games scheduled for Friday have been moved to today, while subvarsity games set for Friday have been canceled.

Klein ISD said all district and campus events scheduled for Saturday or Sunday have been rescheduled or postponed to prioritize safety. Coaches, sponsors, and directors will coordinate new dates for affected activities.

With freezing rain and hazardous ice possible Saturday night, especially on bridges, districts across the region are adjusting schedules for safety. HISD has moved all varsity soccer and wrestling events to Thursday, canceled other weekend games, and closed campuses to the public during competitions to limit travel risks for athletes and spectators.

Families are encouraged to monitor updates, and HISD is urging parents to make sure their contact information is current in ParentSquare. School officials across the region say they will continue to provide updates as conditions change, with safety as the top priority.
